ISLAND SPIRIT

RAKIURA / STEWART ISLAND

With sheltered inlets, forested hills, rugged coasts, dunes, swamps, scattered islets and bizarre granite outcrops. Rakiura/Stewart Island, is remarkable for its variety of landscapes. It has a long history of Māori habitation, sealers and whalers also lived there from around 1800.

The journey starts with a ferry crossing from Bluff to Oban where you'll meet the Breaksea Girl. As usual, there is no set itinerary, we'll be guided by the moods of Mother Nature, however the key to this journey is to gain an insight into the past and to have a solid adventure along the way.

There are many walks, historic sites, stories and stunning beaches to wonder and marvel at, and of course there's plenty of water to leap into, kayak around or explore by snorkel or get in for a freedive to collect Kia Moana (sea food) for the table.

There is coastal travel and several inlets, coves and ports to explore. The charming Breaksea Girl is the perfect refuge to soak up the spirit of this wild frontier. You just cant beat it!
